Eszter Földvári is one of the key figures in Hungary’s contact improvisation community. She has been practicing contact improvisation for over twenty years, both as a dedicated practitioner and an engaged teacher. Originally, she studied Human Resources and spent more than a decade working at multinational companies, partly in leadership positions. She began teaching in 2014 and has been doing it full-time for a few years. Her regular classes and workshops are well-loved within the Hungarian CI scene.
Her dance journey has been enriched by various movement forms such as physical theatre, Butoh, yoga, authentic movement, and contemporary dance. She has also been singing in choirs since childhood. She was previously a member of the Szárnyak Theatre, the Tánceánia Ensemble, and the Living Theater, where she participated as both a performer and sometimes as a creative contributor. She has taught and continues to teach at music festivals such as Ozora, DAAD, Everness, and Sziget.
Her classes focus on cultivating subtle perception, deep trust, and connection. She places great emphasis on creating a safe and supportive space where participants feel free to unfold. Learning is interwoven with playfulness and joy. Her teaching style is sensitive and intuitive, enriched by the influence of many international teachers and mentors. She regularly organizes contact jams, community events, and flash mobs, and she actively contributes to building the Hungarian CI community.
Alongside contact improvisation, she is studying mental health at the Károli Gáspár University. For her, teaching is a joyful process of shared discovery, guided by honest presence and authenticity. She maintains a daily meditation practice, and values inner stillness, mindfulness, and balance both in her personal life and in the spaces she creates for others
