Workshop with Sándor Petrovics (HU)
Most of my inspiration comes from 3 Israeli movement languages I have encoutered in my professional life. Those are Vertigo Dance Company’s, Ilan Lev Method (ILM) and gaga language.
As an ILM practicioner my way of understanding movement comes form the proverb: the less is more. By gratious acceptance, funky breathing, bulky movement, smile and mere imagination we can ease the body and mind both for the treater and the patient. Lately I have started translating this healing method experiences into dance.
My class is about how we can maintaing the gentle balance of the following elements: the necessary minimal muscular tone, leaning on the bone structure with full, adoptable and attentive assessment. By the growing bodily trust – it feels natural, we can make friends, other times go around, fool or even manipulate the gravitaty’s compelling force.
It is also a playful and fun way to sit on the fence of responsibility and unpredictability, where patterns might be revisited and reformed by opening ourselves up to the utterly easy way of manipulation at the human join articulations. These options provide us with a quirky, upside-down vocabulary of what floor, body, partner and contact might mean.
