Intensive with Dorte Bjerre Jensen (DK)
We have for a long time done the right care, in the right way, with the right distance. Let´s turn to another dimension of care, the practice of caring with. Caring with in the attendance to others, with asymmetry of touch, friction, senses, and smells, caring with inside the unequal, messy and troubled situations, caring with bodies, animals, plants, things, with our hands and bodies. Caring with as deep listening. Caring with plants is about proposing an embodied multisensory affectively and politically targeted way of knowing, grounded in sensitizing oneself to the “more than human” sentience, by asking: what modes of attention and practices of attunement can bring us into responsible relation to plants and each other?
I will also take point of departure in my research within “Relational Fields” – touch and relation in the frame of process philosophy and contact improvisation. By letting words and practice work together, a living vocabulary will become steppingstones where each one will enable further articulation in body/words/practice.
There will be a focus on enhancing our sensation of our responding skin, the air around us, friction, gravity, weight sharing, the relations we create with humans and non-humans,the way we compose our bodies in space, and the power of moving in and out of physical contact trusting our body´s innate intelligence. Our body creates space and it is space, and it is in a constantly relational be-coming while extending its skin out in space. And with a sense of subtle readiness and playfulness, we will meet the moment with our senses open and moving spherical with a clear powerful connection to the environment around us. Let´s care with and get carried away!
